Validation of Image Quality and Diagnostic Accuracy Using a Mobile Phone Camera Microscope Adaptor Compared With Glass Slide Review in Teledermatopathology.
new modalities to evaluate histopathology, such as imaging the entire slide, has been validated in the field of dermatopathology but often are not feasible and is not available in developing countries. Many are available worldwide, the mobile phone camera technology is a potentially simple and cheap method of imaging histological slides through the use of mobile camera microscope adapter.
This study aims to validate the use of an adapter that is available commercially in the diagnosis of inflammatory conditions and infections in dermatopathology. Representative images are taken from a slide to fifty-four cases by using an adapter and share through a cloud-based platform with five dermatopathologists given the diagnosis and assess the quality of the image.
After a washout period of 8 weeks, the same case assessed by dermatopathologists together using the original glass slide. Intraobserver level of concordance was 93.3%, and the image quality cell phone was rated as “excellent” or “diagnostic” in 94.4% of cases. This study validates the use of these low-tech and inexpensive adapter as a reliable tool in teledermatopathology. Study limitations include attached to an adapter and a limited panel of diagnosis. The main value of this device may be in developing countries, but the practicality and ease of use lends itself to use in academic settings and consultation in developed countries as well.
Natural History Museum, London (NHM) has embarked on an ambitious program to digitize its collection. One objective of this program is to improve workflow and infrastructure needed to support high-throughput digitizing and creating a comprehensive digital inventory of great scientific collections. This paper presents a workflow developed to digitize the entire Phthiraptera (parasitic lice) microscope slide collection (70 663 slides). Here we describe a new process of mass digitization semi-automatic use both temporary and permanent barcode label applied before and during imaging slide.
By using a series of barcode encoding the information associated with each slide (ie a unique identifier, location in the collection and taxonomic names), we can run a series of automated processes, including renaming files, image processing and bulk import into NHM collection management systems. We provide comparative data on the efficiency of this process, illustrates how simple activities, such as automatic file renaming, reducing image post-processing time, minimizing human error and can be applied in several types of collections.

HPV E6 / E7, hTERT, and Ki67 mRNA RT-qPCR Assay for Detecting High-Grade Cervical lesions with Microscope Slides.
After breast and colon cancer, cervical cancer is the third most common cancer of women worldwide. Since the human papillomavirus (HPV) is known as the main cause of cervical cancer, HPV screening molecules when used together with cytology and histology method for the diagnosis of precancerous.
However, the HPV test’s sensitivity is currently less than 80%; thus, many cases of cervical cancer are not able to be diagnosed with HPV screening alone, and also, patients with cervical cancer are often determined to be HPV-negative with current screening methods.

Therefore, the human telomerase reverse transcriptase (hTERT) and Ki67 previously identified as cancer markers tested. And cells exfoliated cervical high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (HSIL), the most severe precancerous lesions of cancer, which is used in this study. However, it takes a long time to collect enough specimens to perform statistical analysis.
